Andrea is a bilingual (Spanish-English) COTA/L that received her associates degree in Applied sciences (Occupational therapy) at Laguardia Community College. Her experience includes having worked at different outpatient organizations with children and adults, not including her experience in school based therapy. She currently works at a non-for-profit special education pre-k with children ages 3-5. She has experience working with children with ASD, sensory processing disorders as well as learning disabilities. Andrea focuses her OT interventions in a play and multi-sensory based approach exposing each child to “just the right challenge”. She loves working with little ones as she has administered treatment to many children and overseen their growth and overcoming of challenges. During her free time, Andrea enjoys crafting, sewing and reading.
What do you like about being an OT?
I enjoy being part of a child’s journey in overcoming challenges while striving for independence. It is a rewarding experience being part of a multidisciplinary team that aids and guides children through creative and meaningful activities to achieve their fullest potential.
