When?

July 3, 2017 – August 25, 2017
Monday-Thursday 9:00-3:00
Fridays 9:00-2:00
*The camp can be scheduled for the full 8 weeks or can be adjusted to meet a family’s summer vacation schedule. A minimum of 2 consecutive weeks is required.

Why?

Summer camp is a fun, multisensory environment for children to build friendships and confidence, as well as develop and maintain the skills that are needed for school. At SPOTS, we create playful and enriching opportunities that make learning easily accessible and adaptive to all different types of learners. Practicing self-regulation strategies and making decisions throughout the day are important fundamental skills for successful learners. Children will learn how to plan, organize, and participate in activities with the support of their peers and enjoy the opportunity to mentor each other. Through this camp, we aim to help children develop key organizational strategies that generalize to all environments. Also, we will use the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum to help children develop handwriting mastery.

How?

SPOTS staff members, Barbara Choe and Michele Rostowsky, a Handwriting Without Tears® Level 1 Certified Handwriting Specialist, will run this camp. They will be assisted by camp volunteers who are interested in pursuing careers in occupational therapy.

** Children receiving services at SPOTS Manhattan & Brooklyn have priority placement. If you are a current SPOTS family interested in enrolling your child, please contact Barbara Choe at barbara.c@spotsot.com or Michele Rostowsky at michele.r@spotsot.com or call us at (212) 473-0011. If your child is not currently receiving services at either SPOTS location, please contact Barbara or Michele to schedule a screening, and we will do our best to accommodate your child.
